Fall Equinox - Libra to Scorpio - Mercury Retrograde

*Mercury Retrograde: Oct. 4 - Oct. 25: This happens 3-4 times per year, there is high energy. Time for re-form and reflection, think carefully before big decisions are made and use the energy positively.


We are a week into fall now beginning October. Transitioning from one season to another usually means change around us in other forms than just the weather. Maybe routines are adjusting (I wake up early and it's still dark!), closets are being updated (hello... Coat? Is that you...), even some skin/hair nuances too (going to Costco for lotion and lip balm, thanks.)

In times like this, with the spirit of the season especially, it's a fine time to slow down for a minute and reflect, re-asses your position, your day-to-day, and make sure you are balanced. It almost reminds me of when in an exercise class for example, mid-way the pushing, sweating, and trying to keep up... Your instructor tells you to check your cadence, posture, breathing and make sure you are doing it right. And you adjust as necessary and are better for it.

I think now at days with all the extra conveniences afforded especially by technology (isn't it great?)... We can now take more on, multitask, get caught up and forget to look up and inward every now and then. We can often end up taking on too much, expect the world and get frustrated when a return isn't seen immediately even. It can certainly be a drawback sometimes. Pros and cons to everything. But we can do better than that.

This month, right now, bring it back to center. Check your breathing, positioning, and posture... Literally and figuratively. What are you focusing too much on or not enough on? What or who might you be neglecting? How is your nutrition, your routine, diet and fitness? Keep balance top of mind, oh, and remember you're a human. Mistakes are made, feelings aren't perfect, and "doing it all" doesn't always mean what you think it does.

For me, I usually default to making spreadsheets to organize myself when I start to feel things are allover the place. From budgets to food diaries to schedules (nerd, I know.). I would also like to consider who and what I haven't been paying enough attention to, make sure I'm getting to the gym the proper amount of days per week. That I'm taking my vitamins and staying the course with eating clean and taking care of myself. And still finding the time to relax and do what I love and be with the people who I love. This of course includes spending a lot of time in the kitchen!
